The Plantfood EPK.

Who we are.

Plantfood are a blood-pumping jazz force summoning an onslaught of electronic and acoustic sounds with influences ranging from heavy hitters like The Prodigy to the spiritual explorations of John Coltrane. The 6-piece collective guides audiences through the extremes of the mosh pit to serene meditations. Forming within and coming up through the inspiring Leeds Jazz scene and now based in Leeds and London, Plantfood have quickly become a defining sound in the community.

“Powerful as ever” - Jess Iszatt, BBC Radio 1.

“My favourite discovery of Glastonbury 2023” - Papaoul.

Where we’ve played.

Touring across the UK with sellout headline shows in London, Leeds, York, Falmouth, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge, alongside this, they have supported many established artists such as corto.alto, Nubiyan Twist, Dele Sosimi and BCUC.

Plantfood have been bringing the energy since the very beginning, making them perfect for the festival scene. Notable festival appearances include: Glastonbury (Saturday headline slot at Croissant Neuf stage), We Out Here, Shambala, Wilderness, Beat Herder, Tonnau Garden Party and more.

“It’s hard to keep still to that one, the bass and percussion alone produce enough energy to power the grid.” - Soweto Kinch, BBC Radio 3.

Who has listened to us.

Plantfood released their debut album ‘Carnivores’ in 2024 which was featured all over radio via the likes of Craig Charles, Jess Iszatt, Jamz Supernova, Soweto Kinch and Sian Eleri on stations such as BBC 1, BBC 3, BBC 6 Music, Selector Radio and WWFM, as well as hitting track of the week on BBC Introducing.

In October 2025, Plantfood released ‘Bite The Bullet’, a collaboration EP with English-Palestinian rapper Yung Yusuf. This collaboration pushed both artists to reach new sonic horizons, fusing Punk, Jazz and Electronica in bold and explosive arrangements. ‘Bite The Bullet’ weaves topics of fear, identity and vulnerability into the music with a demanding and powerful energy.

“Impeccable track - Plantfood and Yung Yusuf sound like they’re just made for each other.” - Emily Pilbeam, BBC Introducing.

Support for Plantfood extends beyond live shows, as successful Help Musicians applicants and winners of the 2023 Drake Yolanda award. The band were also selected for Tina Edwards’ ‘Next Big Thing’ playlist via British Airways.

What happens next…

Plantfood are currently in a creative period having completed a 1 week long artist in residence programme at the Cornish Bank in Falmouth. They are working on new material for the next record which is planned to be released at the end of 2027, with the first single at the end of 2026.

The new music is more demanding than ever - pushing the boundaries of modern music and blurring the lines between dance, jazz and worldwide traditional folk.

Something to watch, something to see.
